DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke University men's cross country team has been awarded an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Championships, as announced by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee on Sunday.
The Blue Devils are one of 13 teams to earn an at-large bid as a total of 31 teams and 255 individuals will compete in the championship race. Duke is making its 10th appearance in program history, and first since the 2001 season.
Duke finished fourth overall at the Southeast Region championships on Saturday, defeating No. 19 Virginia to seal its chances for an at-large selection.
The Blue Devil women will also compete at the NCAA Championships after winning the Southeast Region title and securing an automatic berth.
Indiana State University will host the Championships on Nov. 23 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The men's race will begin at approximately 12:08 p.m. (EST), followed by the women's race at approximately 12:58 p.m (EST). Both championship races will be broadcast live on Versus Network and streamed online via NCAA.com.
