CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Duke Track and Field team finished the ACC Championships Saturday at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. The women and men each took 11th place with 18 and seven points, respectively. Results for the ACC Championships are available on www.flashresults.com and highlights can be seen on www.ACCSelect.com.
Women's: In the mile run finals, junior Molly Lehman ran a personal best 4:48.57, provisionally-qualifying her for the NCAA's for the first time this year. Lehman became the second Blue Devil to qualify for the NCAA's, with Maddie McKeever having done so provisionally in the 3,000m and automatically in the 5,000m. Her fourth-place finish earned the Blue Devils five team points.
In the 3,000m on Saturday afternoon, junior Patricia Loughlin and freshman Emily Schwitzer both had strong races. Each qualified for the ECAC's in the event, Schwitzer with a 15th place finish in 9:56.29 and Loughlin in 16th place with a 9:57.15 mark. It was Schwitzer's second ECAC-qualifier in the 3,000m this year and Loughlin's first.
Men's: Freshman Ryan McDermott competed in his second event of the ACC's on Saturday, this time going with the 3,000m. McDermott placed ninth as he clocked in at a personal-best 8:24.04, which qualified him for the IC4A's in the event for the second time this year.
Finishing up the meet for Duke was the 4x400m relay team of senior Matt Danforth, sophomore Sam Bowler, sophomore Mario Moreno and senior Peter Lewellen. The quartet earned a seventh-place finish in 3:22.55, which earned the Blue Devils two team points.
The Duke Indoor Track and Field Team's next meet is March 8 and 9 at the IC4A and ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass.
