No. 7 Duke defeated N.C. State, 87-86, on March 1, 2008, at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. Duke improves to 25-3 overall and 12-2 in the ACC while the Wolfpack fall to 15-14 overall and 4-11 in the ACC.

- With his 800th win in his 1,064th career game, Coach K becomes the third-fastest coach to 800 wins based on number of games. Adolph Rupp accomplished the feat in 972 games and Dean Smith 1,029. Bobby Knight was third, accomplishing the feat in 1,102 games.
- Duke's 25-3 record through 28 games marks the 10th time in Duke history that the Blue Devils have been 25-3 or better. This is the fourth time Duke has been 25-3, third time under Coach K, while Duke has been 26-2 four times, three under Coach K and 27-1 twice, both under Coach K.
- Duke's 12-2 record through 14 ACC games marks the 13th time in Duke history that Duke has been 12-2 or better. Duke has now been 12-2 seven times, six under Coach K, 13-1 three times, twice under Coach K and 14-0 three times, twice under Coach K.

- Duke scored 87 points surpassing the 80 point plateau for the 18th time this season and Duke is 17-1 in those games.

Duke Defense
- Duke forced N.C. State into 17 turnovers and gave up just 15 assist, marking the 25th time this season that Duke has held its opponents to fewer assists than turnovers.
- Duke was down 83-76 with 3:24 left in the game and ended the game on an 11-3 run over the stretch run. N.C. State got just one field goal attempt off and missed it and was just 3-of-6 from the line during that time after hitting 22-of-23 up to that point from the charity stripe.
Coach K
- With 800 career wins in his first 33 seasons, Coach K is currently second on the NCAA's list of most victories in a coaches' first 33 season. He trails Dean Smith, who had 802 wins through 33 seasons.
- Coach K now has a 727-205 record at Duke and is in sixth place on the NCAA chart for most wins at one school. Coach K is also second among active coaches behind Syracuse's Jim Boeheim (767). Fifth on the list is Western Kentucky's Ed Diddle with 759 wins.
DeMarcus Nelson
- The senior scored 19 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field, 3-of-4 from behind the arc, and 8-of-9 from the line.
- Nelson's eight free throws matches the second most of his career.
- Nelson now has 1,275 career points and passed Chris Duhon (2001-04 ? 1,268) to move into 36th on Duke's career chart.
- Nelson now has 24 games scoring in double figures this season, including 12 of the last 13, and 67 such games in his career.
- Nelson had just one rebound, marking the second time in 28 games he hasn't recorded at least four.
- Nelson has now hit multiple three-pointers 10 times this season.
- Nelson broke his string of 12 straight games with a steal.
- Nelson is now 14-of-30 (.467) from behind the arc in road games this season.
Kyle Singler
- The freshman scored 12 points, had six rebounds, two assist and a steal in 28 minutes.
- Singler has reached double figures in 10 straight games and 22 games overall this season.
- Singler now has 399 points this season and is just one point shy of becoming the 12th freshman in Duke history to score 400 points.
- Singler snapped his 15 game streak of hitting at least one three-pointer. He was 0-of-4 from behind the arc.

Greg Paulus
- The junior scored 15 points, hitting 5-of-11 from the field and 5-of-9 form behind the arc, and added three rebounds and a pair of assists and steals with just two turnovers in 30 minutes of action.
- Paulus has now hit a three-pointer in 12 straight games, 27 of 28 games this season and 55 of 59 games dating back to his sophomore campaign.

Jon Scheyer
- The sophomore scored 19 points off the bench, hitting 4-of-8 from the field, 3-of-5 from distance, and 8-of-8 from the line. He added two rebounds, three assists and a steal with just one turnover in 34 minutes.
- Scheyer became the 20th player in Duke history to hit 100 career three-pointers. He now has 102 in his career. Immediately ahead tied for 17th with 108 career threes are Quin Snyder, 1986-89, Danny Ferry, 1986-89 and William Avery, 1998-99.
- Scheyer has 17 games in double figures this season, including three of the last four and six of the last eight. A total of 16 of his 17 double figure games have been off the bench this season, a figure that ranks as fourth most all-time at Duke. David Henderson had 24 such games in 1983-84, Corey Maggette had 19 in 1998-99 and Henderson had 18 in 1984-85.
