Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski
“I thought that Frank's [Haith] team played their hearts out. They are having such a great year. I think they have 18 wins. We knew they were hot coming off of these two great wins on the road. They just played well. We did not play well. But I am not going to sit here in front of you and not give credit to Miami. Obviously they had a lot to do with that. Their kids played their hearts out. “
“Our team ? there is something missing this week. We are not the same team these past two ball games. It is almost like someone came in and invaded their bodies or something. We have given up 91 points a game these last two games. It's not what we do at Duke, but also it's not what these kids have done. I don't know if it's the time of the year, or if they took a deep breath, or whatever. We were not very good. That's all of our responsibility, mine specifically. I am very, very disappointed with our performance, but I am also very, very impressed with the performance of Miami. [Jack] McClinton is a really good player for them and [Dwayne] Collins had a great, great night.”
Miami Coach Frank Haith
On defeating Duke...
“It's a special win. The atmosphere we had out there was terrific. But we can't stop. We're still trying to build a resume to make the NCAA tournament. There's no question this helps.”
On Dwayne Collins...
“Dwayne was outstanding. He played like I think he is capable of playing. We want him to try and go after that and have a better performance like that again. He was outstanding. He was aggressive, he was attacking the rim ? that's the post presence we've been wanting and I think Dwayne is very capable.”
On turnovers...
“I thought both teams were tight. They'd turn it over, we'd turn it over. It was a high-level game. The speed of the game was quick. There were a lot of loose balls both ways. A big play that stands out in my mind was Jack's [McClinton] loose ball play where he dove on the floor and came up with the ball. It was a jump ball, but he laid out for it. That was a huge play for us. But I think both teams were excited about playing, and I thought earlier in the game there were some turnovers by both teams because of that.”
