No. 2 Duke lost at Miami, 96-95, on February 20, 2008, at the BankUnited Center. Duke falls to 22-3 overall and 10-2 in the ACC while the Hurricanes improve to 18-7 and 5-6, respectively.
Series Notes
- Wednesday marked the 12th meeting between Duke and Miami dating back to 1962-63. Duke now owns a 10-2 record in the series and 4-2 mark at Miami.
- Miami snaped a Duke 10 game win streak in the series and Duke dropped its first game at the BankUnited Center, now holing a 3-1 advantage there.

- Jon Scheyer's 27 points is the sixth 20 point performance off the bench for Duke this year which is now two more than any other team in Duke history.
Duke's Attempted Comeback
- Duke's furious comeback fell just a point short as the Blue Devils scored 56 points over the final 12:47 after being down 59-39 at that point. Scoring at that rate over an entire game would equate out to 175 points.
- Duke had scored just three points in the first 7:13 of the second half and just 39 points in the first 27:13 of the game and then Duke outscored Miami 56-37 over the last 12:47.
- In the last 12:47, Duke shot 17-of-28 (.607) from the field, 9-of-16 (.563) from three and 13-of-18 (.722) from the free throw line.
- Jon Scheyer and DeMarcus Nelson led Duke's comeback attempt. Scheyer scored 22 of his career high 27 points in the last 12:47 while Nelson scored 14 over that timeframe, including seven points in the final 35 seconds of the game.

- Duke is now 490-260 all-time in February, including 163-62 under Coach K. Duke has won eight of the last 11 and is 67-22 since 1997-98.

- Duke's 95 points is tied for the third highest of the season.
- Miami's 96 points is the most by a Duke opponent this season by 10 points and Duke has now allowed its two highest scoring outputs from its opponents in the last two games.
- Duke's 15 three-pointers is tied for the eighth most in Duke history and marks just the 17th time in Duke history the Blue Devils have connected on 15 or more threes.

- Duke's zero blocks is the lowest total of the season and first time Duke didn't record a block since Nov. 20, 2006, against Air Force in the CBE Classic.
Duke Offense
- Duke scored 90 point for the seventh time this season and is 6-1 in those games now. In 445 games all-time scoring 90 points, Duke is now 421-24. Duke now has five 90 point games in ACC action, tied for 10th most all-time. The 2001-02 team scored 90-plus 10 times in ACC action.
- Tonight's loss marked the first time Duke lost when scoring 80 or more points this season. Duke is 15-1 when scoring 80 this year and 455-45 under Coach K in the 500 games Duke has scored 80 or more.
- Duke has hit 10 or more threes in four of the last six games, connecting on 68-of-169 (.402) in the stretch.
- With Scheyer's 27 points, Duke now has six 20 point performances off the bench, the new school record by two games.
- Scheyer's 27 points also gives Duke 27 double figure scoring games off the bench, tied for sixth most in Duke history with 1988-89 and 2002-03. The 1996-97 squad had 30 such games and ranks fifth.
Duke Defense
- Duke's opponents have had more turnovers than assists in 22 of 25 games this year, as Miami had 17 assists and 22 turnovers. In the last six games, Duke's opponent has 82 assists and 115 turnovers.

Jon Scheyer
- The sophomore scored a career high 27 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field, 5-of-9 from behind the arc, and 8-of-9 from the line. He added five assists, three rebounds and three steals in 31 minutes of action.
- Scheyer's 27 points is a career high and his third 20 point game this season and sixth of his career. He also has 15 games in double figures and 38 career games in double figures, as well. He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games.
- Scheyer's five assists is the third most in his career and just one off his career high of six, a total he's reached twice.
- Scheyer's three steals matches the second most in his career.
- Scheyer now has two games this season with three steals and six such games in his career.
- Scheyer's five three pointers is a new career high and is the fourth time this season he's hit three or more and 14th such game of his career.
- Scheyer's eight free throws made is the second most of his career while the nine attempts is tied for the second most in his career.
- Scheyer now has three 20 point peformances off the bench this season, tied for the second most in Duke history. David Henderson (1984-85), Thomas Hill (1990-91) and Corey Maggette (1998-99) all had three 20 point games while Henderson (1983-84) had four 20 point games and holds the Duke record a season earlier.
- Scheyer now has 15 double figure scoring games off the bench this year, tied with William Avery (1997-98) for fourth most in Duke history. He is three games behind third place David Henderson (1984-85) who had 18 games in double figures.
DeMarcus Nelson
- The senior scored 19 points and pulled down a season high 10 rebounds. He added three steals and a pair of assists in 35 minutes.
- Nelson recorded his first double-double of the season and fifth of the year for Duke (Kyle Singler has the other four).
- Nelson now has 22 games this season scoring in double figures, including 10 straight and 17 of the last 18. He has 65 such games in his career.
- Nelson now has one game this season and four in his career with 10 or more rebounds, and he recorded his third career double-double.
- Nelson now has nine straight games with four or more rebounds.
- Nelson now has 10 games this season with three or more steals and he is now averaging 2.33 steals per game in ACC play, second most in the league.
- Nelson connected on 3-of-7 from behind the arc, marking his fourth game this season and 14th game in his career with three or more three-poitners.
Kyle Singler
- The freshman scored 12 points and connected on a pair of three-pointers against Miami.
- Singler now has 42 three-pointers this season and passed former Blue Devil Bobby Hurley, who was in attendance, and moved into seventh place on the freshman three-pointers made chart. Roshown McLeod and Chris Duhon each had 44 and are tied for fifth.
- Singler now has 19 games scoring in double figures, including seven straight.
- Singler has connected on a three-pointer in 13 straight games, the second longest active streak in the ACC.
Greg Paulus
- The junior scored 12 points, dished out six assists to just one turnover, and added a pair of steals and pair of threes against Miami.
- Paulus now has 13 games scoring in double figures this season and 45 such games in his career. He has scored at least seven points in 14 straight games.
- Paulus has hit a three pointer in nine straight games and in 24 of 25 games this season.
- Paulus' six assists matches his second-highest total of the season.
- Paulus now has 89 assists to just 41 turnovers on the season, a ratio of 2.17.
- Paulus now has 41 assists to just 17 turnovers in ACC action this season, a ratio of 2.41.
- Paulus became the 11th Blue Devil to record 400 career assists and sits on exactly 400 in his career. He passed Jim Spanarkel (1976-79) and moved into 11th place, as well. He needs 33 more to catch Jeff Capel (1994-97) and the top 10 of the career chart.
Taylor King
- The freshman hit a pair of three pointers and grabbed two rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench.
- King now has 41 three-pointers on the season and passed Luol Deng and moved into a tie with Bobby Hurley for the most threes made by a freshman. Hurley was in attendance Wednesday and they are tied for eighth place on the chart.
Lance Thomas
- The sophomore matched his season high with 10 points, hitting all three of his field goals, and added three rebounds and a steal before fouling out.
- He now has three games in double figures this season and six games in his career.
