Upcoming Event: Men's Basketball versus UCF on October 21, 2025 at 7 p.m.

12/3/2008 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski
Opening statement:
“I'm proud of our guys. We beat a really good team tonight. Purdue Basketball is one of the greatest traditions in all of college basketball. I talked to Gene [Keady] for about an hour today and really enjoyed that. I told our kids, it is an honor to play on Keady Court. Our defense and rebounding was great tonight. We just rebounded better than them tonight and won.”
On junior Jon Scheyer and sophomore Kyle Singler's play:
“Jon and Kyle played at an extremely high level tonight. Jon's a veteran, he's accustomed to big games like these. Playing against a physical team, you like to have the ball in these guys' hands because you know there is going to be fouls and they are automatic from the line. I also thought they did a good job on Moore and Hummel. [Moore and Hummel] played well but not great. That's what you have to hope for when you're going against outstanding players like those two.”
On Purdue being the best team they have played yet:
“Purdue is by far the best team we have played yet. They are going to be there against any team in the nation. If we were to play Purdue more times, they would beat us some. At the end of the season, Purdue will be there, one of the teams to beat.”
On taking the crowd out of the game in the first four minutes:
“The crowd was out of the game?... It's important to get off to a good start in an environment like this. Purdue was so amped I think they missed on some easy plays and layups. They wanted it so bad...This environment is what college basketball is about.”
