No. 10-ranked Duke defeated Southern Illinois 83-58 in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y. to improve to 4-0 in the 2008-09 season. The Blue Devils move on to face the winner of the Michigan-UCLA game on Friday at 7 p.m.
Duke vs. Southern Illinois Series
? Duke and Southern Illinois met for the fourth time on Thursday in Madison Square Garden. The Blue Devils now hold a 3-1 lead in the all-time series. The Salukis won the first ever meeting, 72-63, on March 13, 1967, in the first round of the NIT. Duke came back the next year to win 78-54 on Feb. 8, 1968. The last time the two schools met, the Blue Devils defeated Southern Illinois 105-70 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 18, 1993.
? The Blue Devils are now 6-2 against teams currently from the Missouri Valley Conference. They are 1-0 against Drake and Missouri State, 1-1 against Bradley and now 3-1 against Southern Illinois.
Duke In Early Season Tournaments
? With a win in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, the Blue Devils now have a 3-2 record in the tournament. Duke defeated Presbyterian, 80-49, in the first round and Georgia Southern, 97-54, in the second round. The Blue Devils lost its two games against Stanford and Connecticut in the tournament in New York to open up the 1999-2000 season.
? The Blue Devils advance to the finals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer where they will play the winner of the semifinal game between Michigan and UCLA.
? Duke is now 50-9 in major midseason tournaments, including the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, Maui Invitational, CBE Classic, Preseason NIT, Great Alaska Shootout and Rainbow Classic.
? The Blue Devils have won six straight games in major midseason tournaments. They went 3-0 to claim the Maui Invitational Championship last season and are 3-0

? Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski earned his 807th victory as a head coach on Sunday. He ranks fifth all-time in NCAA Division I history for career victories and is first among active coaches.
