Duke Women In Eighth, Men In 12th After First Day Of ECAC And IC4A Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. --- The Duke outdoor track and field team finished the first of three days at the ECAC and IC4A championships in Princeton, N.J., on Friday. The Blue Devils competed in six events with the women placing eighth with six points and the men starting off 12th with three points.

Women's (ECAC's): Senior Elle Pishny competed in the 10,000 meter run on Friday night at Princeton. Pishny ran the event in 35:35.47, which was good for third place and six team points at the ECAC's.

Men's (IC4A's): In the discus, freshman Michael Schallmo had Duke's performance of the day when he threw for a mark of 163'-01.” That distance not only placed Schallmo sixth at the IC4A's and gave the Blue Devils three points, but was the second-best discus toss in school history.

A Look Ahead: Events at the ECAC and IC4A championships will continue from 9 a.m. through 6:15 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:30 through 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Duke still has 11 events to compete in on Saturday and three on Sunday.
