CHARLESTON, S.C. — Duke men's soccer team tied the reserves of Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer fame on Sunday in Charleston, S.C. The 1-1 tie came in the Blue Devils' third exhibition match of the spring season. The match was played at the A-league Charleston Battery's Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island.
The Red Bull's Dane Richards scored the game's first goal in the third minute after stealing the ball and finishing the ensuing breakaway.
Current junior midfielder Michael Videira tied the game in the 78th minute on a one-time shot from the right side of the penalty area off a throw-in.
Duke Starters: Justin Papadakis, Tim Jepson- captain, Graham Dugoni, Joshua Bienenfeld, Darrius Barnes, Pavelid Castaneda, Michael Videira- captain, Tomek Charowski, Brad Ramsey, Joe Germanese, Kevin Stevenson- captain.

Duke will face a familiar foe this Friday, March 30 when they take on Wake Forest in an exhibition in Winston-Salem, N.C. at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils defeated the Demon Deacons twice in 2006-- 4-3 on Sept. 8 in Winston-Salem and 1-0 in overtime in the ACC Tournament final on Nov. 5 in Boyds, Md. Wake Forest reached the NCAA Final Four in December before losing to eventual champion UC-Santa Barbara.
The Blue Devils are the defending ACC regular season and tournament champions and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual runner-up UCLA in overtime, 3-2. The 2007 Blue Devils will return 10 of 11 starters and 15 letterwinners from that squad. Their schedule will be released later in the spring.
