CLEMSON, S.C. --- Duke wrapped up competition at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Clemson, S.C. The women's team finished in sixth place with 56.5 points and the men's team placed 11th with 19 points. It was the second highest point total ever for the women's team in the meet, and the men were able to double their point total from last year.

Women's: Senior Debra Vento competed in the high jump on Saturday morning and tied her personal best and Duke record of 5'-11.50.” That mark not only re-qualified Vento for the ECAC championships, but for the NCAA provisional qualifying height as well. Vento placed second in the ACC Championships and is likely to make the NCAA Championships in two weeks.

In the shot put, freshman Alexa Revord set the Duke record with her distance of 43'-07.75.” That was also good for 14th place at the meet.

Senior Shannon Rowbury won the women's mile at Clemson with her time of 5:01.92, beating out North Carolina's Brie Felnagle, who ran the mile in 5:03.15. Rowbury then won the 3000 meters later in the afternoon with her time of 9:16.37, beating out the five-year-old meet record by over three seconds.

The Duke women's 4x400 relay team finished tenth at the ACC Championships with a time of 3:53.76, which qualified them for the ECAC Championships next weekend in Boston, Mass.

Men's: Blue Devil freshman Michael Schallmo recorded a shot put of 51'-03.30” on Saturday morning, which qualified him for the first time for the IC4A Championships next weekend. Schallmo's shot put also was the longest for Duke since 1966 and the third longest ever.

In the pole vault, junior Ian Cassidy qualified for the IC4A's for the third time this season with his vault of 15'-09.75.” Cassidy placed tenth at the meet as well.

Junior Chris Spooner placed fourth in the men's 3000 meters with his time of 8:19.76. That qualified Spooner for the IC4A's for the second time this season in the 3000.

The men's 4x400 relay team of junior Peter Lewellen, sophomore Nick Trombold, freshman Sam Bowler and senior Daniel King ran the fifth best time in Duke history on Saturday with a 3:17.69 mark. That qualified the team for the IC4A's next weekend as well.

Carlyle Cup: North Carolina gained one total Carlyle Cup point (0.5 for women's track and field and 0.5 for men's) this weekend and now holds an 8.5-6.5 lead in the current standings. The North Carolina women finished third with 75.5 points and the men came in fifth place with 56. Track and Field's other full point for the Carlyle Cup will come at the Outdoor ACC Championships, Apr. 19-21. The next Carlyle Cup competition will be Sunday when the women's basketball teams meet in Cameron Indoor Stadium at 4 p.m.

A Look Ahead: From March 3-4, the women will compete in the ECAC Championships and the men will take part in the IC4A Championships. Both meets will be held in Boston, Mass. Duke will not host a meet until the outdoor season, when there will be two in Durham. The Duke Invitational is Apr. 6-7 and the Duke Twilight is May 6, and both will be held at Wallace Wade Stadium
