With its 71-66 win at Clemson, Duke improves to 21-7 on the season, including a 8-6 mark in the ACC, and improves its record to 98-27 all-time against the Tigers, including 22-16 at Littlejohn Coliseum. Duke has won 21 straight over Clemson and is 45-9 against the Tigers under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Clemson drops to 19-8 overall and 5-8 in the ACC.
Coach K is now 774-257 overall in his coaching career in 32 years at Duke and Army. That is the ninth-most in NCAA history and ties the record for most wins in the first 32 years of a coaching career in NCAA history. He is tied with Dean Smith and those two have 34 more than any other coach in NCAA history in their first 32 seasons.
Under Coach K, Duke is now 272-121 in regular season ACC play, including a 153-44 mark at home and a 119-77 mark on the road. The 272 wins are the second most in ACC history.
Sophomore Josh McRoberts scored 10 points and had six rebounds against Clemson. McRoberts now has 21 games in double figures this season and 36 in his career.
Freshman Jon Scheyer scored a game-high 18 points shooting 5-of-6 from the floor, 3-of-3 from behind the arc and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He added six rebounds and a steal in just 27 minutes. His 27 minutes is his lowest total since playing in 25 against Georgetown on Dec. 2. Scheyer has 19 games scoring in double figures.
Sophomore Greg Paulus scored 14 points and had six assists, two rebounds and a steal in 36 minutes of action. Paulus hit 3-of-4 from behind the arc and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Paulus now has 16 games scoring in double figures this season and 27 in his career.
Junior DeMarcus Nelson scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists in 35 minutes of action. Nelson now has 24 games scoring in double figures this season and 39 in his career.
