DURHAM, N.C. ? Christina Daniels of the women's cross country team recently sat down with GoDuke.com for her senior profile. Daniels discusses her favorite Major League Baseball team, her favorite food, favorite TV shows, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: What is your nickname?
Christina Daniels: My friends call me Ninobean which has now been shortened to Bean.
GD: What is your favorite professional team?
CD: The New York Yankees.
GD: What is your favorite movie?
CD: The Thomas Crown Affair.
GD: What show do you most anticipate a new episode of?
CD: Friday Night Lights and The Office. I really enjoy the story line and the football in FNL and The Office keeps me constantly laughing.
GD: What's your favorite food?
CD: Pasta, any kind.
GD: Who's had the most impact on your life and why?
CD: My father. He and I are very similar and I value his opinions very highly. He has given me a “never quit” mentality and it has stuck with me through the past four years.
GD: Who's had the most impact on your athletic career and why?
CD: My high school track coach who motivated me to want to run in college.
GD: What are you planning on doing after graduation?
CD: Working at a Sports & Entertainment Agency in New York City or L.A.
GD: What would your dream job be?
CD: To be an agent for athletes in Major League Baseball.
GD: What's the thing you most admire about your coach and why?
CD: His patience and dedication to our team.
GD: What's your favorite part of practice and why?
CD: Cool downs. You still have adrenaline from your workout, but the painful part is over. It's also a good time to run with girls on the team you don't usually run with in workouts.
GD: What's the best advice you've ever received?
CD: To do my best in what makes me happy.
GD: What would the perfect end to your athletic career look like?
CD: To achieve a goal time in my 800m and to remain injury free.
GD: What's your favorite sport, other than your own, to watch on TV?
CD: Baseball.
GD: What is your advice to this year's freshmen on your team?
CD: Take a lot of ice baths, even though you may not want to. It helps immensely with muscle recovery and injuries.
