Durham, N.C. - Blake Camp tallied two goals in Duke's 2-1 victory against Stony Brook on Wednesday, scoring the game-winner in the final minute of the contest to give the fourth-ranked Blue Devils their tenth win of the season.
With just under a minute left in regulation, Spencer Wadsworth played a ball to Mike Grella who found Camp at the top of the goal box and Camp fired off a shot with his right foot that found the back of the net to put Duke ahead 2-1.The goal was the second of the game for Camp and his seventh of the season, the second most on the team. It also gave him his third game-winning goal, tying him for the most on the team with Wadsworth.
After a scoreless first half, Camp opened up the scoring three minutes in to the second stanza. Darrius Barnes crossed the ball to Tomek Charowski who headed the ball back across to Camp who was open for the header that gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead. The Seawolves came back to tie the score in the 65th minute when Rob Fucci headed in a cross from Douglas Narvaez following a corner kick. The goal was the first of the season for Fucci.
With the win the Blue Devils improve to 10-3-1. Head Coach John Rennie has now led Duke to a ten-win season in 25 of his 27 years at the helm. Justin Papadakis earned the win with one save in the game. John Moschella made six saves for Stony Brook, but came away with his first loss of the season. The Blue Devils held a 23-9 advantage in total shots and also had 12 corner kicks compared to just three for the Seawolves.
Duke will have a short turnaround as they head to Chapel Hill on Friday for an ACC showdown with North Carolina. The game will begin at 8 p.m. and will be televised live nationally by Fox Soccer Channel. Sean Wheelock will be handling the play-by-play duties.
