In what appeared to be an even match, both teams had many opportunities to score, but great plays in goal from Duke s Jeff Haywood and UNC Greensboro s Nathan Kipp kept the game close. The lone goal of the game came in the 21st minute when a UNC Greensboro defender headed the ball into his own net off of a throw in by junior Nii-Amar Amamoo.
The Blue Devils return to action tomorrow when they again travel to Raleigh for the second day of play in the Big Four Tournament. They re game with UNC Charlotte is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. Duke will return home to Koskinen Stadium on Saturday, November 6 for the regular season finale against ACC rival N.C. State. That game also starts at 1:00 p.m.
