Duke went up early, when senior midfielder Sherrill Kester scored the first of her two goals on the evening at the 13:10 mark, off a feed from sophomore forward Sarah Pickens. Kester struck again 15 minutes, this time off a feed from junior Kim Daws, to put the Blue Devils up 2-0.
Duke held that lead until the 57:22 mark, when UNC's Meredith Florance score the first of her two goals of the evening. On the first goal, she snuck the ball into the right side of the box off an assist from Raven McDonald. Her second score, a 15-yard unassisted shot which tied up the game, occurred less than a minute later.
Duke's only two shots resulted in goals, as UNC outshot the Blue Devils 19-2. The Tar Heels also led in corner kicks, 9-0.
With the win, UNC improves to 13-2 overall, 4-0 in the ACC. Duke drops to 9-7, 1-4 in the league. The Blue Devils hit the road this weekend, traveling to ACC foes Clemson on Friday and Florida State on Sunday.
