Johnny Dawkins stands as Duke's all-time leading scorer with 2,556 points during his basketball career from 1983-86.
His career was capped by being named the National Player of the Year in 1986, leading the Blue Devils to an NCAA record 37 victories, the Big Apple NIT title, ACC regular season title and the ACC Tournament championship. Ultimately, the Blue Devils captured the NCAA East Regional championship and a berth in the NCAA title game against Louisville.
He was a two-time first team All-America and was the MVP of the 1986 NCAA East Regionals and ACC Tournament.
Dawkins went on to play in the NBA for nine seasons, retiring with the Detroit Pistons after stints with San Antonio and Philadelphia.
His jersey number 24 is retired by Duke.
