Matic was a 2:14 prep 800 meter runner who ran cross country as a freshmen for the Blue Devils, making great progress as a leader of the "B" team in the fall of 2000. Ready for a great indoor campaign as a freshman, Matic instead suffered a knee injury over winter break and red-shirted for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2001. The coaches expect the firery competitor in Matic to produce great things in her sophomore year.
