Sonny Mukungu joined the Duke men's soccer staff in 2015 as the Volunteer Assistant Coach. A Durham native and graduate of Charles E. Jordan High School recently completed his collegiate soccer career at High Point. Mukungu played his first two seasons at NC State and was named to the All-ACC Freshman team in 2010 and a third team Freshman All-American by College Soccer News.

At High Point, Mukungu started 28 games for the Panthers as a defender and scored one goal. Successful in the classroom, he was named a Millis Scholar Athlete his senior season at High Point.

Mukungu graduated from High Point with a bachelor's degree in human relations. He will assist with many aspects of the program, including helping make travel plans and scouting film.
