Sophomore: Returned to New York’s rugged Van Cortlandt Park, where he ran many races in high school, to run his best race of the cross country season with a 25:38 five-mile time, good enough for 16th place at the IC4A Championships and All-East honors ... was second man for Duke as the Blue Devils went on to a fourth- place team finish ... was the No. 3 man for Duke at both the ACC Championships, where Duke placed fourth, and the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Oregon ... indoors opened the season with a sparkling 4:15 anchor 1,600m, a personal best, on the closing leg of Duke’s winning DMR at the Terrier Classic in Boston ... went on to run 8:29.94 in the 3,000m the next week in New York, missing the IC4A-qualifying mark by mere tenths of a second ... after a late season illness, returned outdoors to post a 5,000m personal best of 14:46.52 at the Duke Invitational, and a 1,500m PB of 3:56.23 at Wake Forest ...
Freshman: Duke’s cross country 2005 Freshman of the Year got his harrier career off to a fantastic start by finishing first among all Blue Devils at the season-opening Lou Onesty Invitational, cruising the Virginia 8K course in 24:45 ... other cross country highlights included running third man for Duke at the NCAA Southeast Regional, clocking 31:31.8 in his first-ever 10K to help Duke to a fourth-place team finish, and running fifth man for Duke on the winning team at the IC4A Championships ... returned to Van Cortlandt Park three months later to run the 8K there in 25:12 to place 25th at the USATF World Junior Trials in February ... ran a personal-best indoor 3,000m just two weeks before at the Armory Collegiate Invitational, when his mark of 8:29.39 qualified him for the IC4A Indoor Championships ... anchored the Duke DMR team at the ACC indoor meet to a scoring position of seventh place ... outdoors, his best clocking was a 15:01 in the 5,000m at the Duke Twilight meet to conclude his frosh campaign ...
