Miller's time was just 1.14 seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifying standard and ranked her fourth all-time at Duke. Miller showed great promise in the longer distances as she was the second freshman at the ECAC Championships over 5,000m with a personal best time of 17:03.89, which ranks her second all-time at Duke. Miller, along with teammate Paris Edwards, took time out from her indoor campaign to travel to Portland, Ore., for the USATF Junior Cross Country Championships where she finished 13th among the nation's top college freshmen and high school harriers. Miller redshirted the 2002 outdoor track season.
