Sophomore
Schneider began his sophomore campaign with his best ever cross country season, proving he can run 10,000m by earning All-Southeast Region honors. Schneider was also All-ACC in cross country. Duke’s top miler for the second straight year, Schneider added two All-ACC honors to the five All-East honors he has won in middle distance events. Half way through his Duke career, Schneider is a perfect 8-for-8 qualifying for ACC and IC4A mile and 1,500m finals indoors and outdoors. As a sophomore, Schneider was third in the ACC indoor mile and third in the outdoor 1,500m. While at the IC4A indoor meet, Schneider placed fifth in the mile and ran on the third place 4x800m relay which established a new school record. Schneider captured the NCCU Last Chance Meet in 3:47.78 to qualify him for the Outdoor NCAA East Regional at 1,500m. He anchored both the school record 4x800m relay and No. 2 all-time 4x1,500m relay outdoors.
Freshman
Winner of the Duke Outstanding Freshman Award for 2002, Schneider posted Duke’s top time in the 1,500m, winning the JMU Invite in 3:45.35. Schneider also won at the Duke Invite, capturing the second section of the 1,500m in 3:51.46 the night before he anchored the winning DMR for the Blue Devils in 4:06 for his 1,600m leg. In the Penn Relays DMR, Schneider led off with a 2:57 1,200m. Indoors, Schneider was a two-time All-East selection when he ran 4:07.40 (second all-time at Duke) in the mile to advance to the IC4A final where he was eighth. Then, in his third race in 24 hours, he anchored the 4x800m relay to the No. 2 all-time clocking of 7:33.57. Schneider’s other indoor highlights included the Millrose 4x800m relay, which finished third overall and first among colleges, and anchoring the DMR to victory at the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet with a 4:07 1,600m split that gave the Blue Devils a 9:46.20 time, No. 3 all-time indoors. Schneider placed fifth at ACC Indoors after posting a then personal best of 4:10.79 in trials. Outdoors, Schneider earned his third All-East title at 1,500m.
