After a fall campaign in which Amdisen ran close to or in the top seven all season, Amdisen moved into track and field with his sights set on the 3,000m steeplechase. Indoors, he prepared with efforts in the mile and 3,000m. This paid off with outdoor bests of 3:58.54 in the 1,500m and 9:23.32 in the steeplechase, the best Blue Devil time in that event for 2003.
