SERIES HISTORY
- The Blue Devils and Eagles meet for the 15th time since the first meeting in 2005. Boston College leads the series 8-6, but Duke has won two of the past three. The Eagles prevailed 1-0 at home in 2016.
- Each of the past four games have been 1-0 results with Duke going 2-2 in those. Overall, only three of the contests have been decided by more than two goals, all setbacks for Duke.
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
- Duke is looking to rebound after back-to-back losses at Louisville and at home to Georgetown. The Blue Devils have not scored a goal in nearly 200 minutes, going back to the 73rd minute against San Diego Aug. 31. This is just Duke’s second game in the month of September.
- Daniele Proch leads all scorers with five goals, while Kevin Feucht has two. Feucht missed the game against Georgetown with an injury. Rookie Seth Kuhn has two assists to his name and has played all but five minutes at center midfield. Brandon Williamson is the engine to the midfield, while Max Moser and Issa Rayyan are major threats on the flanks.
- Rookie Aedan Stanley has been anchoring the backline in the center back position. A captain, Ciaran McKenna and sophomore Matthias Frick man the wings on defense. Will Pulisic is the leader from the back in goal. Fresh off of a strong rookie campaign, Pulisic was tabbed one of the top 11 goalkeepers by Top Drawer Soccer. He posted seven shutouts a year ago and earned All-ACC third team recognition.
- Off the bench, Duke has the strongest it’s been in recent memory with a wealth of talent ready to step in. Nicolas Macri, Sivert Daehlie and Colby Agu provide an offensive punch, while the talents of Torbjørn Alseth and Daniel Wright at midfield are available at any moment.
LAST TIME OUT
- Georgetown scored in the sixth minute and held off a furious second-half charge from ninth-ranked Duke to come away with a 1-0 road win. The Blue Devils dominated play in the second half, but couldn’t connect. Will Puslisic made four saves in goal.
PROCH’S SCORCHING START
- Junior forward Daniele Proch got off to a fast start in 2018 with five goals in his first three games. After netting three goals in the opening weekend to earn College Soccer News Team of the Week honors, the Italy native tallied two more to lead Duke to the 4-1 at San Digeo and repeat Team of the Week recognition. His five goals match the five the scored in 20 games last season. His 1.00 goals per game average is the highest in the league and eighth nationally, while the 2.00 points per game average is third in the ACC and 15th in Division I soccer.
DUKE vs. BOSTON COLLEGE 2016
- A long range goal in the 51st minute proved to be enough for No. 25 Boston College as the Eagles handed Duke a 1-0 setback.
- Only five of the current Blue Devils played in that game, with four of them starting. Also five current Eagles saw action, including Simon Enstrom who tallied the lone goal.
