DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke men's golf team along with their counterparts from N.C. State and North Carolina will take part in The First Tee of the Triangle Golf Clinic on Saturday, April 2 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at UNC Finley Golf Course. Participants of The First Tee of the Triangle will have the opportunity to meet and learn from student-athletes and coaches from the three area colleges/universities.
"This is a great opportunity for us. The Golf Coaches Association of America helped spearhead this in terms of coordinating it with the First Tee programs from around the country. And for us, our guys have been looking forward to this for awhile," said head coach Jamie Green. "It is going to be a unique and special opportunity for us, as a university and for the members of our golf team in particular, to represent Duke University as an important arm in the Triangle; an important part of our three communities: Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill. It's exciting for us, we're looking forward to it and it will be a neat environment for everybody."
The First Tee of the Triangle and Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) have teamed up to organize the event, which will benefit more than 75 young people from the Raleigh-Durham area who are planning to attend. The event will give The First Tee of the Triangle participants the opportunity to learn from collegiate players and coaches and in the areas of golf instruction and wellness, as well as the importance of high school graduation, preparation for college and college golf opportunities.
