DURHAM N.C.- The Duke football team is set to take on Miami Saturday in Coral Gables, FL. Kickoff is set for 3 P.M. Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior tight end, George Pearkes, to learn more about the Nelson, B.C., Canada native.
GoDuke.com: What is the most embarrassing music you have on your iPod right now?George Pearkes: Ke$ha. Also Katy Perry but she's my girl so no embarrassment there.
GoDuke.com: Any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
GP: Music, and reading the program.
GoDuke.com: What's on your bucket list?
GP: Visiting London, England and going skydiving.
GoDuke.com: Favorite home cooked meal?
GP: Such a tough one...either mom's Spaghetti or her rice and beans recipe.
GoDuke.com: What has your favorite class been at Duke?
GP: Wow these are tough questions. I'd say Managerial Finance with Sam Veraldi, and Markets and Marketing with George Grody a close second.
GoDuke.com: Who has had the most impact on your life and why?
GP: My family. No question. Everything I do is supported and enabled by my mom, dad and brother; I'd be nothing without them.
GoDuke.com: Describe your coach in one word?
GP: Disciplined.
GoDuke.com: Who would you trade places with for one day if you could pick anyone?
GP: President Obama. Only for one day though, his job is way too tough to wake up to every morning.
GoDuke.com: Who would be your dream date?
GP: Sigh. Refer to question 1. If that ring ever falls off Katy Perry's finger I am in there.
GoDuke.com: What's your worst habit?
GP: Taking things personally. Sometimes people have a bad day, you can't take everything that they say to heart and I sometimes forget that.
GoDuke.com: Favorite place to eat around Durham?
GP: Vin Rouge on 9th St. Their hanger steak with blue cheese infused butter and frites is by far the best meal in Durham. Finish it off with some chocolate mousse...perfect.
GoDuke.com: Are you on team Iphone, blackberry, or droid?
GP: iPhone. Converted in August of '08 and haven't looked back.
