DURHAM, N.C. - Senior defensive tackle Vince Oghobaase was one of 40 players named to the 2009 Outland Trophy Watch List.
Oghobaase, a Houston, Texas native, enters his final season at Duke with 128 career tackles, 29 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. He has started in 36 consecutive games for the Blue Devils and ranks among the ACC active leaders in sacks (2nd) and tackles for loss (3rd). A 2009 preseason All-ACC selection, Oghobaase is tied for ninth in school history with 11.5 sacks and needs one tackle for loss to move into Duke's top-10.
Of the 40 players on the watch list, Oghobaase is one of only four ACC representatives and joins Wake Forest's nose guard Boo Robinson as the only defensive players from the conference on the list. The other two players from the ACC are Virginia Tech guard Sergio Render and Boston College center Matt Tennant.
The Outland Trophy is awarded annually to the top interior lineman in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The recipient of the award, which is named after all-america lineman John Outland who played at Penn and Kansas, will be announced at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
