Jennie & Yu Young Lee Advance At The North & South Amateur
PINEHURST, N.C. ? With one of only five under-par rounds on Tuesday at the 106th North & South Women’s Amateur Championship, Duke University senior Jennie Lee finished tied for fourth and junior Yu Young Lee compiled a tied for 45th ledger in stroke play qualifying to advance to match play in Pinehurst, N.C.
Jennie Lee, who is from Henderson, Nev., carded rounds of 73 and 71 to finish with a one-under-par, 144, which was tied along with Tyrette Metzendorf at fourth. Taking home medalist honors was Jennie Arseneault with a four-under-par, 141. Ryann O’Toole (142) and Kristie Smith (143) were second and third, respectively.
Yu Young Lee, who is from Orlando, Fla., was tied for 45th with rounds of 77 and 77 for a total of 154. Blue Devil sophomore Kim Donovan missed the cut with rounds of 80 and 76.
A total of 63 golfers advanced to match play with defending champion Alison Walshe earning the No. 1 seed and a bye in qualifying. The match play will kick off in the morning on the Pinehurst No. 2 Course.
In the first round of match play on Wednesday, Yu Young Lee will take on Kendall Dye at 9:22 a.m., while Jennie Lee will face Virginia Grimes at 11:14 a.m.
