The second-ranked Duke men's lacrosse team will host Bellarmine on Tuesday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium. Face-off is set for 3 p.m.
The Blue Devils are 2-0 on the year with victories over Butler (20-3) and Villanova (13-2). Tuesday's tilt will mark the season-opener for the Knights, who posted a 13-2 ledger in 2005, as well as the first meeting between Duke and Bellarmine.
Last Saturday, sophomore attackman Zack Greer netted four goals and junior goalkeeper Dan Loftus logged 10 saves while holding Villanova to one goal in just over 56 minutes of action as Duke defeated the Wildcats, 13-2. Dan Flannery chipped in one goal and four assists while Matt Danowski, Kyle Dowd and Matt Zash had two goals apiece in the victory.
On the year, Flannery leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 10 points on four goals and six assists while Greer has scored a team-high seven goals.
The Blue Devils have won 13 straight home games dating back to the 2004 season, and the current run ranks tied for second among active streaks nationally. Johns Hopkins has won 37 in a row at home while Virginia also has secured 13 consecutive home victories.
The Knights, playing just their second season of lacrosse in 2006, are guided by head coach Jack McGetrick, who previously spent 11 seasons (1993-04) as the head coach at Hartford before taking over at Bellarmine. Garett Kikot is the team's leading returning scorer after totaling 88 points on 53 goals and 35 assists a season ago.
