Upcoming Event: Softball versus Arizona on May 17, 2026 at 12 p.m.

March 10, 2003
Dahntay Jones was named to the Eighth Annual Fan's Guide Coaches' All-Defensive Team for the second time in as many years on Monday. The Fan's Guide to ACC Basketball established the league's first all-defensive team eight seasons ago, and left the vote to the coaches. This remains the only all-conference squad chosen entirely by the ACC's nine head coaches.
The coaches vote for five players whom they consider the league's best defenders regardless of position. They're also granted anonymity and given the choice to cast votes for their own players, a privilege employed by a majority of coaches in 2003.
The two top vote-getters were repeat performers from the 2002 squad -- Wake Forest's Josh Howard and Duke's Dahntay Jones. The seniors tied for first this year with seven votes each. They are among 10 players selected more than once during their careers.
Jones is the 12th Blue Devil voted to an all-defensive team. That showing matches the combined total of the next two teams in terms of selections, Georgia Tech and Maryland.
Jones, a complimentary player in 2002, emerged as Duke's leading scorer this season as well as its best defender. Strong, athletic and fiery, the 6'6" Jones has the versatility to guard opposing players on the interior as well as on the perimeter.
