Duke Swimming & Diving Announces Nine Additional Committments to Class of 2006

The Duke men's and women's swimming and diving teams have added nine additional recruits to attend the university in the fall of 2002, as announced by associate head coach Whitney Greene Friday. With the addition, the Blue Devils will now welcome a group of 19, including 18 swimmers and one diver, to the program.
"We are very excited to receive so many spring commitments, especially after getting such a strong early decision class over the winter," said Greene. "The class of 2006 will be an extremely deep one for us since it covers the entire spectrum of events. To have a such a talented group of athletes commit to us when we have no scholarship money to offer is something we're especially proud of."
The Blue Devil men will welcome six swimmers, J.D. Wheeler, Billy Pearce, Joe Wiese, Cooper Moore, Tim Herr and Stephan Verdeyen, and one diver, Tim Hyer, a transfer from the University of Georgia. The women are adding two swimmers, Jessica Waller and Mary Lauren Lilley.
