Battier Named Player Of The Week
DURHAM, N.C. -- Shane Battier, a junior forward on the Duke men's
basketball team, was named ACC Player of the Week after averaging 28.0
points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in games vs. Clemson and North
Carolina last week. He also had five blocked shots in the two games,
including a game-high four at Clemson.
Battier scored a game-best 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting against North Carolina to help lead Duke to a 24-4 overall record and 15-1 regular season ACC record. Battier continued his hot streak from three-point range, nailing 13-of-19 (.684) of his trey attempts last week. For the week, he was 19-of-33 (.576) overall from the field. Battier continues to lead Duke and rank among ACC leaders in three-point field goal percentage (.465 - first), free throw percentage (.823 - third) and blocked shots (53 - fifth).
