The 2009 season marks the return to Duke women’s lacrosse for first-year volunteer assistant Laura Anderson. Anderson, who graduated in 2006 after a standout career on the field, rejoins the Blue Devils after two years away from the program.
In her four years as a member of the women’s lacrosse team, Anderson saw action in 68 contests and served as team captain in 2006 – leading the squad to its ninth straight NCAA Tournament and third straight Final Four. Over her career, Anderson tallied 102 ground ball pick-ups, 38 draw controls, and 77 caused turnovers as a midfielder. In 2006 she was honored as an IWLCA/US Lacrosse second team All-America and a first team All-South selection, earning NCAA All-Tournament honors as well. Anderson also spent time as a member of the U.S. Developmental squad.
Since her graduation, Anderson has coached girls’ lacrosse at her alma mater, Baltimore’s Severna Park High School, and worked with an area club team. In August 2008, she began physician assistant school at Duke and will complete her degree while working with the 2009 Blue Devils.
