Senior: Competing in the fall of 2005 as a redshirt junior, Chas was a vital member of Duke’s first IC4A Championship team in school history, running fourth man for the Blue Devils at the IC4As in Van Cortlandt Park, touring the five-mile course in 25:50 ... his 29th- place finish overall missed All-East honors by just four spots ... Chas ran his fastest 8K at the ACC Championships, where as fifth man for Duke he ran 25:06 in Tallahasse to help the Blue Devils to a 5th place ACC team finish ... he completed his indoor track career for Duke by running a personal best for 3000 meters at the Armory Collegiate in New York in 8:29.10, good enough to qualify for the IC4As in Boston ...
Junior: Redshirted 2004 cross country season ... indoors, came close to his goal of qualifying for the IC4As with a PB 8:30.32 that placed him 14th overall at the ACC Championship but came up less than a second short of the IC4A standard ... came up short of his 5000m PB with a 14:57.36 before moving up to run his first 10K at the ACC Championships ... didn’t finish that first attempt but came up big the following week at the Penn Relays when he clocked 31:07.92, an IC4A-qualifier and much faster than any of his previous 10K efforts in cross country ... was elected co-captain for the 2005 Duke cross country team ...
Sophomore: A top seven runner for the Blue Devils throughout the cross country season ... Duke’s second-best performer at the ACC Championship and third-best runner at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship ... one of Duke’s top competitors in the indoor 3000m and the outdoor 5000m.
