ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Four former Blue Devils will take part in the Premier Lacrosse League All-Star game this weekend at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
Brennan O'Neill and
Michael Sowers headline the group as starters for the West and East teams, respectively.
Joining O'Neill as reserves on the West squad are
Andrew McAdorey and
JT Giles-Harris. This is Sowers' fifth All-Star Game appearance and the fourth for Giles-Harris. O'Neill garnered the recognition for the third straight year and McAdorey for the second time in his two-year career.
The Lexus All-Star game is set for July 5 at 2 p.m., on ESPN.
McAdorey paces Eastern Conference leader California Redwoods midfield unit with nine goals and 10 points overall. The Redwoods are 4-2 and are tied for the league lead in goals scored at 72.
O'Neill and Giles-Harris have the Denver Outlaws in second place in the conference with a 3-2 record. In his third season, O'Neill is second on the team with 15 points. His team-best eight assists are tied for fourth in the PLL. He is just 11 points shy of reaching 100 for his PLL career.
Giles-Harris anchors the defense with eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. He also has an assist. The Outlaws have given up just 47 goals in five games, 11 fewer than the next best defensive squad.
Sowers leads the league and the Waterdogs with 11 assists and 17 points overall. He recently passed the 200-point benchmark for his career, heading into the All-Star break with 105 goals and 96 assists.
