Seven Blue Devils Vying for 2026 PLL Title Sunday

DURHAM, N.C. – The 2026 Premier Lacrosse League U.S. Bank Championship is set for Sunday, September 20 and seven former Blue Devils are among those vying for the championship trophy. Opening faceoff is set for 12:30 p.m., on ABC at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.

Breaking Down the Matchup
Former Blue Devil attackman and PLL Most Valuable Player frontrunner Michael Sowers headlines the Waterdogs attack with a league-leading 51 points. Close defenseman Kenny Brower helps to anchor one of the league's stingiest defenses, while Nakeie Montgomery is in the mix for a spot on the rope unit.
The Outlaws are led on both ends of the field by a quartet of Blue Devils. A nominee for PLL Defensive Player of the Year, JT Giles-Harris leads the close defense alongside professional lacrosse journeyman Michael Manley. Jack Gray is a premier short-stick middie, while Brennan O'Neill is the Outlaws' playmaker with 35 points from 13 goals, including three two-pointers and a career-high 19 assists.
From Practice Matchups to Championship Battle
There will be familiar matchups in the game as five of the six Blue Devils were a part of Duke's 2021 roster. Giles-Harris drew the assignment of defending Sowers during practice in 2021, while Brower took on the then-rookie O'Neill on the practice field. Gray and Montgomery also certainly had battles throughout the week as Blue Devil teammates.
Manely and Outlaws Coach Tim Soudan Continue Chase for Title Together
Denver Outlaws head coach Tim Soudan's first draft pick as a professional head coach was Manley. On Sunday, the two will play their 129th game together as a player-coach duo as both chase their first pro lacrosse championship.
Manley and Soudan have been paired together for more than a decade as player and coach. However, their combined record in championship games is 0-3 – including a 14-13 loss to the New York Atlas in the finale of the 2025 PLL season.
At 38, Manley will be the oldest player on the field Sunday. He may have more years behind him than anyone else in the Championship, but his experience has only deepened his passion for the game.
