DURHAM, N.C. – The quartet of
Aidan Maguire,
Max Sloat, Charlie Johnson and
Benn Johnston were selected as 2026 Nike Lacrosse Media All-Americans as announced by Inside Lacrosse Saturday afternoon.
Maguire picked up first-team recognition for a second consecutive year, while Sloat garners second-team accolades for the first time in his career. Johnson repeats as a third-team choice, while Johnston is an honorable mention pick as an attackman after earning third team honors as a midfielder last year.
A consensus first-team All-American last year, Maguire is the anchor to Duke's rope unit with 13 caused turnovers and 32 ground balls. He has recorded at least one caused turnover in nine games this season while helping the Blue Devils hold opponents to just 8.69 goals per game.
The 2025 Lt. Donald MacLaughlin National Midfielder of the Year and ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Maguire is a true two-way player for the Blue Devils, registering three goals and six assists this season. He has 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points in his career.
Last season, Maguire recorded 26 caused turnovers to tie for fifth among SSDM's in NCAA single-season history and seventh overall in Blue Devil lore. In 69 career games, Maguire has 64 caused turnovers – the most of any defensive midfielder in program history and sixth overall at Duke.
Sloat is having one of the most notable seasons as a midfielder with 32 goals and six assists for 38 points. His 32 tallies are the most by a full-time Blue Devil midfielder since Deemer Class had 50 in 2016. He is one of five Duke midfielders under
John Danowski to score at least 30 goals in a season.
This season, the San Mateo, California native has scored multiple goals in 10 games, including scoring four in the win at No. 3 North Carolina. He leads all midfielders in the ACC and ranks fourth nationally among middies with 2.46 goals per game. Sloat has 77 goals and 30 assists in his 54 career games to sit tied for 48th on the Duke career chart.
In his second season as a starter on close defense, Johnson has a team-best 17 caused turnovers and has picked up 25 ground balls. He draws the opponent's top attackman and most recently held North Carolina's top scorer to just two goals – both of which came in the final two minutes of the game. He also registered his first career goal in the win over the Tar Heels. Johnson has started 31 of his 36 career games and has forced 50 turnovers to rank 11th Duke history.
Johnston, in his third season with the Blue Devils, paces the offense with 35 goals. He has registered multiple points in 12 of the 13 games and a hat trick in seven contests to rank second in the ACC in goals scored per game.
The Lake Forest, Illinois native tallied a career-high six goals and seven points in a win over Vermont and notched three goals against Syracuse. In four ACC games this year, the three-year starter has seven goals and two assists for nine points. Johnston has scored a goal in 17 consecutive games and has a point in all but three of his 50 career games. With 84 goals and 23 assists, Johnston ranks 48th in Duke history with 107 career points.
Duke opens NCAA Tournament action Saturday night at No. 3 Richmond. Faceoff in the opening round game is set for 7:30 p.m., on ESPNU.
