COLORADO SPRINGS – Duke field hockey senior
Alaina McVeigh has been named to the U.S. Women's National Team as announced by USA Field Hockey Thursday. McVeigh joins former Blue Devils
Leah Crouse and
Jillian Wolgemuth on the roster.
McVeigh is one of two newcomers to the team, joining Mia Karine Myklebust as players looking for their first senior national team caps. A three-time All-American for the Blue Devils, McVeigh returns to Duke for her final season in 2026. She has led Duke in scoring each of the past three seasons and became the first Blue Devil to earn three All-ACC First Team awards since the league started compiling two teams in 2013.
The Lansdale, Pennsylvania, product led the Blue Devil offense last season with 15 goals and nine assists for a career-best 39 points. The 15 markers tied for 14th in Duke single-season history while the 39 points are tied for 20th. McVeigh scored a goal in 11 games and had multiple goals in four contests. She notched game winners in four games, including the 2-1 victory over Iowa in the NCAA Championship first round.
For her career, McVeigh has 45 goals and 14 assists for 104 points and is one of six Duke players to post at least 20 points in each of her first three seasons on the turf. McVeigh is also one of four Blue Devils to register double-digit goals in each of her first three seasons. She currently ranks 10th in Duke history with 104 career points and ninth with 45 career goals.
Crouse and Wolgemuth both are veterans with the U.S. team, compiling 67 and 65 caps, respectively. Crouse donned the red, white and blue with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics and recently was selected to the 2026 FIH Hockey Nations Cup Auckland squad. The 2026 FIH Hockey Nations Cup includes the U.S., host New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Chile, Scotland and France.
