SPARKS, Md. – For the second consecutive season
Aidan Maguire headlines Duke's four All-America selections as a first-team choice by USA Lacrosse as the organization announced its All-America Teams Thursday afternoon.

Charlie Johnson and
Max Sloat garnered second team recognition and junior
Benn Johnston picked up an honorable mention nod. Johnson and Sloat make their debuts on the USA Lacrosse second team after garnering honorable mention accolades a year ago. Johnston makes the All-America list as an attackman after being named to the second team a year ago as a midfielder.
Johnson, this week's ACC Defensive Player of the Week, and Maguire anchor Duke's stalwart defense. The dynamic duo has combined for 30 caused turnovers and 57 ground balls while leading a defensive unit that is holding its opponents to just 8.69 goals per game. The Blue Devils hold teams to 26-percent shooting for the year and keep foes to just 18 shots on goal per game.
A two-year starter on close defense, Johnson has a team-best 17 caused turnovers and has picked up 25 ground balls. He draws the opponent's top attackman and most recently held North Carolina's top scorer to just two goals – both of which came in the final two minutes of the game. He also registered his first career goal in the win over the Tar Heels. Johnson has started 31 of his 36 career games and has forced 50 turnovers to rank 11th Duke history.
Maguire, a consensus first-team All-American a year ago, is a generational defensive midfielder for the Blue Devils. The Hingham, Massachusetts native has led Duke's rope unit throughout his time in Durham, earning consensus All-America first team recognition last season. The 2025 Lt. Donald MacLaughlin National Midfielder of the Year and ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Maguire is a true two-way player as one of the top takeaway artists in lacrosse and an incredible threat in transition.
Last season, Maguire recorded 26 caused turnovers to tie for fifth among SSDM's in NCAA single-season history and seventh overall in Blue Devil lore. Maguire has added 13 caused turnovers to his career total this season, helping anchor one of the nation's best defenses. In 69 career games, Maguire has 64 caused turnovers – the most of any defensive midfielder in program history and sixth overall at Duke. He is a threat in the transition game and has 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points.
Johnston, also an All-ACC pick as a midfielder and attackmen in his career, paces the offense with 35 goals, registering multiple points in 12 of the 13 games and a hat trick in seven contests. The Lake Forest, Illinois native tallied a career-high six goals and seven points in a win over Vermont and notched three goals against Syracuse. In four ACC games this year, the three-year starter has seven goals and two assists for nine points. Johnston has scored a goal in 17 consecutive games and has a point in all but three of his 50 career games. With 84 goals and 23 assists, Johnston ranks 48th in Duke history with 107 career points.
Sloat is having one of the most notable seasons as a midfielder with 32 goals and six assists for 38 points. His 32 tallies are the most by a full-time Blue Devil midfielder since Deemer Class had 50 in 2016. He is one of five Duke midfielders under
John Danowski to score at least 30 goals in a season.
This season, the San Mateo, California native has scored multiple goals in 10 games, including scoring four in the win at No. 3 North Carolina. He leads all midfielders in the ACC and ranks fourth nationally among middies with 2.46 goals per game.
The Blue Devils (9-4) earned their 28th bid to the NCAA Tournament and will travel to No. 4 seed Richmond Saturday, May 9. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m., on ESPNU.
