DURHAM, N.C. – No. 24 Duke softball is set to host No. 19 Stanford for a three-game conference series at Smith Family Stadium beginning Friday. Due to projected inclement weather, the series opener versus the Cardinal has been moved from 6 p.m. to a 1:30 p.m. start.
The Blue Devils improved to 22-10 overall and 8-1 in ACC play after sweeping Georgia Tech in a three-game road series over the weekend. Duke erased an early six-run deficit to defeat the Yellow Jackets, 14-13, in eight innings Friday to secure the series-opening win. The Blue Devils used another late rally to defeat Georgia Tech, 6-5, Saturday to clinch the series. Senior
Cassidy Curd was strong in the circle, holding off a seventh-inning surge from the Yellow Jackets to preserve the win. The senior allowed just one run off three hits while punching out a game-high six batters in her 4.0 innings of relief. Duke completed the sweep with another come-from-behind win, 4-2, Sunday. The Blue Devils earned their third straight conference series victory of the season and have won 11 of their last 12 ACC series, dating back to April 26, 2024 versus NC State.
Stanford brings a 19-8 record into the weekend matchup, including an 8-4 mark in ACC play. The Cardinal continues the seven-game road swing after sweeping North Carolina in a weekend series and defeating East Carolina in a non-conference contest Wednesday night. Stanford outscored the Tarheels 30-14 during the three-game set in Chapel Hill before rolling past the Pirates, 7-2, in Greenville.
