DURHAM, N.C.—Duke senior midfielder
Max Sloat was named to the USILA Team of the Week following his hat trick to lead the Blue Devils to hard-fought 8-7 victory over No. 14 Denver over the weekend.
Sloat notched his third hat trick of the season, scoring Duke's final three goals as the Blue Devils outlasted the Pioneers. Denver jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first six minutes and held Duke scoreless in the opening quarter.

Cal Girard goal on the opening faceoff of the second period jumpstarted a 7-0 run with Sloat capping the scoring barrage with two goals in the final 90 seconds of the frame.
The native of San Mateo, California tallied his first with 1:30 left on the clock to make it 6-4 and then beat the buzzer with an unassisted marker with seven seconds left for a 7-4 halftime advantage.
After Denver pulled back within two in the third quarter, Sloat pushed it back it to three with his third straight goal. Duke's defense did the rest of the work, holding the Pioneers without a goal in the final 10:45.
Sloat is third on the team with 22 points from 19 goals and three assists. He is seven goals shy of matching his total from last season and only nine points away from hitting the 100-point benchmark for his career.
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils open ACC play Saturday at No. 7 Syracuse. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m., on ESPNU at the JMA Wireless Dome.
