WASHINGTON D.C.— The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the Men's Watch List for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Presented by Stifel and the Blue Devil trio of
Charlie Johnson,
Benn Johnston and
Aidan Maguire are among the 50 players securing a spot on the prestigious list.
The recognition from the Tewaaraton Foundation is just the latest honor for this dynamic collection of Blue Devils. All three were consensus preseason All-Americans after capturing national honors during the 2025 season.
Johnson, Johnston and Maguire have picked up right where they left off this season in leading the Blue Devils both offensively and defensively. Johnson and Maguire are the leaders on Duke's elite defense that has allowed just 15 goals in two games. In the opening win over Bellarmine, the Blue Devils gave up just three goals in the opening 45 minutes with the top unit.
Johnson is tied for the team lead in takeaways with three caused turnovers and is the top defenseman off the ground with seven ground balls. Maguire, the top defensive midfielder in the game, has three ground balls, one caused turnover and a goal and an assist.
A USILA All-America second-team choice last season, Johnston has six goals and two caused turnovers in the first two games. He leads all non-faceoff specialists with 10 ground balls after the opening pair of contests.
Founded in 2001, The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Duke is off to a 2-0 start and hosts Vermont at Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium Feb. 15. Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m., on ACCNX.
