LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Duke women's soccer graduate
Carina Lageyre signed her first professional contract this week with Angel City Football Club (ACFC) of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
Lageyre, who hails from Cooper City, Florida, signed a three-year deal.
"Since my first meeting with Mark [Parsons] and Alex [Straus], I was excited about their vision for the future for this organization and I am extremely thankful to be part of it," said Lageyre. "I chose Angel City because I want to develop in a competitive training environment with a strong fan base. This team provides all the resources for us to be successful and I'm looking forward to making this city proud."
One of the top midfielders in collegiate soccer over the last three years, Lageyre appeared in 65 matches and started 59. She scored six goals, including three game-winners, added 12 assists and logged 3,962 minutes. Lageyre helped lead Duke to 56 wins and back-to-back NCAA College Cup appearances in 2024 and 2025. She started her final 58 matches in a row to conclude her Blue Devil career.
"Carina is a fantastic young talent from one of the top college programs in the country, while also having significant U.S. Youth National Team experience," said ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons. "Carina is a highly intelligent midfielder who can control games through her positional play and passing game which is rare. We couldn't be happier that she will bring this style of play to our club."
As a senior, Lageyre collected two goals and two assists as she started all 22 matches. She earned United Soccer Coaches Fourth Team All-Region and All-ACC Third Team accolades. Lageyre was a two-time All-ACC Academic Team, three-time ACC Honor Roll and two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.
With Lageyre's signing, Duke has sent seven Blue Devils to the NWSL over the last two years –
Kat Rader (Houston),
Maggie Graham (Houston),
Hannah Bebar (Bay FC),
Leah Freeman (Bay FC),
Ella Hase (Racing Louisville) and
Mary Long (Kansas City).
