ATLANTA – Duke sophomore forward
Toby Fournier has been named to the 2026 Naismith Women's College Defensive Player of the Year Presented by MOLECULE Watch List as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Fournier is one of eight underclassmen on the 25-player watch list and one of play just seven forwards represented. Five players from the ACC earned nods.
Leading the Blue Devils in scoring (17.5/gm), rebounding (7.5/gm) and blocks (2.2) Fournier is the highest scoring forward in the ACC and eighth among her position on Power 4 basketball programs. She has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and owns four double-doubles.
The Toronto native has increased her scoring average by 34 percent in her sophomore season and her rebounding average by 43 percent. Defensively, the 6-2 forward ranks second in the ACC in total blocks with 44, surpassing her total in 35 games last season.
With Fournier anchoring the efforts around the rim, the Blue Devils are holding their opponents to just 60.2 points per game and to 38 percent shooting. Duke is second in the ACC and eighth nationally in blocking average (6.0/gm).
The 20th-ranked Blue Devils return to the court Jan. 29 against Miami. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m., on ACC Network.
