Duke takes its seven-game win streak to Palo Alto against Stanford Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils are 10-6 overall, 5-0 in league action with their last loss coming Dec. 4 against LSU. Six of the past seven wins have come by at least 14 points with the Blue Devils pulling out their first comeback victory at Cal Thursday afternoon. Duke is now one of only three teams in the ACC to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Duke's six losses are against the current NET No. 5 LSU, No. 2 UCLA, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 21 West Virginia, No. 31 Baylor and No. 71 South Florida. The Blue Devils are led on offense by sophomore Toby Fournier's 17.3 points per game. Taina Mair is having a career year, averaging 12.2 points, 5.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game. Ashlon Jackson is dropping 12.4 points per game and a team-best 33 three-pointers. Fournier and Delaney Thomas lead the charge on the glass, averaging 7.5 and 5.9 rebounds per game, respectively. Thomas also contributes 10 points per game on a team-high 64 percent shooting. Fournier is the top rim protector, averaging 2.2 blocks per game.
Stanford is coming off a hard-fought 55-43 win over Wake Forest The Cardinal are 14-3 overall and 3-1 in league action. Nunu Agara is their leader on both ends, scoring 15.2 points per game and pulling down 8.4 rebounds per contest. Chloe Cardy is the top shooter, knocking down 22 three-pointers and averaging 11.1 points per game. The Cardinal sport a 9.8 rebounding margin, outrebounding all but one of its opponents this season.
Duke and Stanford meet up for only the eighth time overall and for the third straight season. The Blue Devils are 3-4 against the Cardinal, including a 74-49 win in Durham last season. This marks the third time Duke has played Stanford in Palo Alto, going 0-2 in the other two matchups.
Last Time Out Notes
The Duke duo of Delaney Thomas and Arianna Roberson scored 20 points apiece to lead Duke to victory at Cal. It was the second consecutive game two Blue Devils registered at least 20 points with the pair of Thomas and Roberson each hitting the 20-point mark for the first time in their careers.
Duke rallied from 10 points down to start the fourth quarter to post its first comeback victory of the year. It was the Blue Devils' first win when heading into the final 10 minutes trailing.
Duke got off to another fast start, putting up 26 points in the first quarter to match its season-best total in the opening period. The Blue Devils also scored 26 points in the first against Notre Dame.
Inside the ACC
The Blue Devils are one of three ACC teams to remain unbeaten in league play, sporting a 5-0 record along with Louisville and Virginia.
Duke's offense has come alive in conference play, ranking second in the league in scoring offense (80.2), third in offensive rebounds (13.8), third in 3FG percentage (.353) and fifth in field goal percentage (.458).
Individually, Toby Fournier ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 18.2 points per game after five games. Ashlon Jackson (5.0) and Taina Mair (4.4) are fifth and ninth in assists, respectively. Duke is the only school to have two players averaging at least 4.0 assists per game in league play.
Defensively, Duke sits atop the ACC in scoring defense (59.2 ppg) is second in rebounding margin (8.0) and third in opponent field goal percentage (.375). The Blue Devils are third in overall rebounding (41.8) and fourth in defensive rebounds (28.0).
Numbers Behind the Win Streak
The Blue Devils have won seven straight as they inch closer to 10 wins. Duke is averaging 82.0 points per game, has a +25.4 scoring margin and has shot 46.4 percent in the seven-game stretch. On the glass, Duke sports a +10 rebounding margin, compared to just +8.0 in November non-conference games against unranked opponents.
Defensively, the Blue Devils are holding opponents to just 56.6 points per game, 36.3 percent shooting and forcing 17.1 turnovers per game.
Sharing is Caring
Duke has done a good job of sharing the ball this season, averaging 17.2 assists per game to rank third in the ACC. The Blue Devils have 275 assists on 440 field goals for a 63-percent assist-to-field-goal ratio. Senior guards Taina Mair and Ashlon Jackson have been the most generous, dishing 82 and 68 helpers, respectively. They are responsible for 55 percent of Duke's assists through 16 games - 20 percent higher than the 2024-25 season (212 of 610 team assists).
Through games Jan. 8, Duke is one of 10 Division I programs to have two players average at least 4.0 assists per game.
