OGDEN, Utah – Duke men's golf alum Julian Suri fired a final-round 7-under-par 63 to win the Utah Championship on Sunday, capturing his first career victory on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Suri, who competed for the Blue Devils from 2009-13 and was a four-time all-region selection, carded his eighth birdie of the day on the 18th hole to take sole possession of the lead and secure a two-stroke victory.
The win — his first in 39 career Korn Ferry Tour starts and second as a professional following the 2017 Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour — vaulted Suri 40 spots to No. 16 in the Korn Ferry Tour points standings. The top 20 players at season's end earn a PGA Tour card.
A 34-year-old native of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Suri currently leads the Korn Ferry Tour in putts per round (27.91) and final-round scoring average (66.86). He has recorded five top-25 finishes in 17 events this season, including a runner-up showing at the Veritex Bank Championship in April.
While at Duke, Suri compiled a 72.8 career stroke average with 57 par-or-better rounds and 22 rounds in the 60s, earning three individual titles. As a junior in 2011-12, he was named third-team All-America and All-ACC after leading the team with a 71.27 stroke average, nine rounds in the 60s, five top-five finishes and two event wins.
