DURHAM, N.C. – Duke softball rising senior
KK Mathis has been tabbed Academic All-America by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
Mathis earned third team recognition and becomes just the sixth Blue Devil to receive the honor, joining
Claire Davidson (2024),
Aminah Vega (2024),
Jala Wright (2024),
Deja Davis (2023) and
Jameson Kavel (2022).
Mathis, who hails from West Chester, Ohio, earned the honor with a 3.587 GPA. In her first season with the Blue Devils, she has already made her mark on the Duke offense. The junior transfer finished the year with a .342 batting average with 55 hits, 13 doubles, 39 RBI and six home runs in her 161 plate appearances.
She crushed her second career grand slam over the center field wall to help guide Duke past Elon, 10-0, at Duke Softball Stadium. The junior finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while matching her career-high with five RBI during the contest. She posted her 100th career RBI during Duke's 11-0 run-rule victory over ECU on March 26. Mathis tallied her fifth multi-RBI game of the year during the regular season finale at NC State, sending out a three-run shot in the top of the first to give Duke an early lead en route to a 12-6 victory over the Wolfpack.
Mathis collected NFCA All-Region honors for the second time in her collegiate career after being named to the third team in 2023 and 2025.
