Four Advance to Grand Final Races at ACC Rowing Championship

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 18 Duke rowing advanced four of its five boats to grand final races after the first day of the 2025 ACC Rowing Championship in Clemson, S.C., Friday afternoon.
The Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four punched their tickets to the grand finals after finishing in the top of three of their respective heats. The Third Varsity Eight will race in the petite final on Saturday, missing a spot on the podium by just 1.27 seconds.
Heading into the championship, Duke earned the No. 5 seed in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four races. The Blue Devils' Third Varsity Eight rounds out the competition as the No. 7 seed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Third Varsity Eight opened the morning with a tight race against Cal, Syracuse and North Carolina. The Blue Devils narrowly missed a spot in the grand final after placing fourth in the second heat, registering a time of 6:46.036 – just 1.27 seconds behind the third-place crew from North Carolina.
- The Blue Devils followed with back-to-back third place finishes in the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight races behind No.1 Stanford and No. 13 Virginia, securing their spots in the grand final with times of 6:24.648 and 6:33.55, respectively.
- The fifth-seeded Varsity Four crew of coxswain Lucy Herrick, Sophia Greco, Vivienne Foley, Justine Medveckus and Chelsea Proutt clocked the second-fastest time of the first heat, crossing the finish line in 7:14.322.
- Duke's Second Varsity Four closed out the first day of competition with another strong third-place finish, recording a time of 7:34.820 to claim their spot in the grand final on Saturday.
