- Malau'ulu extended Duke's edge to 7-0 in the top of the fourth with a solo blast over the center field wall.
- Charlotte's Jaylah Jarnell responded in the home half, slipping a two-out single up the middle to plate a pair of runs and cut the deficit to 7-2.
- Duke's offense erupted in the top of the fifth with a seven-run frame, highlighted by back-to-back long balls from Vega and Gold, to secure the run-rule victory, 14-2.
