Trio Named D1Baseball Top 150 Starting Pitchers

DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore left-handed pitcher Kyle Johnson and juniors Andrew Healy and James Tallon were selected as part of D1Baseball's top 150 starting pitchers entering the 2025 season, slotting Johnson as the 44th-best, Healy as the 64th-best, and Tallon as the 112th-best in the country.
In his rookie campaign, Johnson became the first two-way player since Marcus Stroman for Duke to earn Freshman All-American honors as a utility player. He was also selected to the All-ACC Freshman team and earned a spot on the Collegiate National Team Summer Ball roster at USA Baseball.
On the mound, the Leesburg, Virginia, native appeared in 15 games, making 12 starts and posting a 4-1 record in 49.1 innings. He tallied 53 strikeouts and held opponents to a .237 batting average while setting a career-high in innings (6.0) and punchouts (8) against North Carolina. Johnson posted a .253 average at the plate, scoring 16 runs and generating 19 hits (10 for extra bases), including three home runs.
Healy, a 6-foot-6 left-handed pitcher from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, is a former Dick Howser Pitcher of the Month in 2023 after posting a 5-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in April of 2023. During his 2024 campaign, Healy started 12 contests, posting a 3-1 record on the mound with a 3.76 ERA in 40.2 innings of work. He held opponents to a .213 average at the plate, allowing 32 hits, 18 runs (17 earned), 17 walks, and 42 strikeouts. He added a career-high nine strikeouts against Akron on opening weekend and worked five innings of one-hit baseball in the ACC Tournament to punch Duke's ticket to the semifinals.
Tallon, a 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher from Arlington, Virginia, was a Stopper of the Year Finalist in 2023 and began the season in 2024 as a Stopper of the Year Watch List member. Last season, Tallon appeared in 24 games for the Blue Devils, making his first career start in the ACC Championship game against Florida State. He posted a 2-0 record on the mound, working 32.1 innings and punching out 37 batters.
