DURHAM, N.C. – Duke track and field is back in Blacksburg this weekend, this time gearing up to take part in the Doc Hale VT Meet. The two-day meet is slated for Feb. 7-8 at Rector Field House.
MEET INFO/WHAT TO KNOW
- Fifty-eight athletes will represent the Blue Devils this weekend across 33 track and field events.
- Multis kick off the action Friday morning with the first events of the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon. The heptathlon 60m dash gets going at 10:30 a.m., with the 60m hurdles of the pentathlon slated for an 11 a.m., start.
- The men's unseeded pole vault (1p.m.) jumpstarts the field events Friday while action on the track commences in the men's mile at 5 p.m.
- Saturday features the final three events of the heptathlon, starting with the 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. The men's high jump (12 p.m.) opens the afternoon slate of field events, while action on the track resumes at 2 p.m., in the 500m.

LAST TIME OUT
- It was another successful outing for Duke track and field this weekend as the Blue Devils turned in nine top-five program marks at the Hokie Invitational, headlined by a pair of school records in the men's 300m and women's 600m. In total, the Blue Devils tallied 31 top-five placements and 16 podium finishes across the two-day meet.
- Freshman Joseph Taylor and junior Lauren Tolbert delivered the record-breaking performances for the Blue Devils courtesy of personal-best showings in the men's 300m and women's 600m, respectively.
- Tolbert clocked 1:28.15 for the first-place finish, leapfrogging Madeline Kopp to claim the top spot on the Duke leaderboard. Taylor jumped two spots up the program charts via a dash of 33.88 seconds, unseat the previous mark set by Miles Mingo in 2021.
- Competing in the women's 600m alongside Tolbert, graduate student Ally Gomm secured her place in program lore via the fastest race of her collegiate career. Gomm sprinted 1:29.02 en route to placing third in the event, with her time good for No. 3 all-time.
- Classmate TJ Clayton picked up right where he left of, turning in a pair of standout efforts in the men's 200m and 300m.
- Clayton claimed victory in the 200m and dashed his way into No. 2 all-time at Duke courtesy of a finish of 21.40 seconds. Over in the 300-meter race, the graduate student finished his race in 34.49 seconds to move into a tie for fifth all-time at Duke.
- Taking part in the women's 1,000m race, graduate student Stephanie Moss slotted herself No. 3 all-time following a finish of 2:47.63.
- The Duke throws unit also got in on the action and established top-five program marks in the men's shot put and men's and women's weight throw.
- Graduate student Eric Bottern came through with his clutchest throw on his final attempt of the competition, cementing himself into the No. 2 spot on the Duke shot put charts on a mark of 18.29m (60-0.25 feet).
- Classmate Iyanna Lewis and freshman Phillips Moore rounded out the group of top performers for Duke. Lewis delivered on attempt number five and registered a throw of 19.68m (64-6.75 feet) to take fourth and move into No. 3 all-time in program lore.
- On the men's side, Moore got off on the front foot and parlayed his opening throw of 19.10m (62-8 feet) into a runner-up finish and the No. 5 spot on the program charts.
